My maintainership of tetra_drama was removed by rick_day, and he sent me this message:

Don't freak out. I'll put you back as maintainer after I've talked to tet. But here are my thoughts and motives:

I'm thinking I don't like bad_acid in this room but I don't want to piss him off too much because otherwise he is an ok guy.

I'm also thinking we got a Negro in the Woodpile™ somewhere.

My thoughts are to purge the room list and selectively reinstall the ones I KNOW are safe, like Dom, chimpy, pie, you etc.

With you on the outside you won't get flack over this because people will bug (heh) you to let them in. This way and can stamp your feet along with the rest in indignation and question my sanity.

See, I have a problem and it gets me in trouble all the time. I'm compelled to fix things which means sometimes you gotta strip everything down and start over. Not always. So I need to talk to tet and figure out what HE wants, or if he even cares.

So I replied that what he did was wrong, that bad_acid left days ago of his own volition and Tet hasn't cared about the community in months, and to have fun being the next keltik. Then I left. Because you know what, I don't need that kind of fucking bullshit drama. I like loads of t_d members-- lots of you are on my flist-- but I don't like what Rick is doing, and I'm not going to deal with power hungry paranoia. That's what nearly wrecked the community before keltik got banned.

So, if any of you are getting booted, just be aware of what his plan is and decide for yourself if you really want to be a part of that.

ETA: Oh his logic if that makes it better for any of you:
Well, er no it is well thought out. This thing is an endless cycle of wank. Someone has to break it. You were getting nowhere with T_M or kevin.

If I had told you what I planned to do, you probably would have dropped me as a mod, and nothing would have changed.

If tet does not care then I'm purging the room, making you mod, opening it up to public entry and purging all prior entries. And then I'm leaving the community.

Again, if tet does not care, then its time to just..let this all go.

Well, yes it was. Who made me moderator? Who made you moderator? On technicalities....

and no I'm not running anything daycamp or not. You will be. I hope after I'm gone you will shut down the room and everyone will just ignore tet, david and kevin. Let them wank each other off all day for all I care.

But I've GOT to talk to tet before I do this. Either way, by the time you wake up, things will be as they were.

we woke up at Ohmygod O'clock to go to Andy and Yvonne's for Christmas morning crap. I went out to shovel a path to the car... and found some neighbors in a rear-wheel-drive, low-rider Caddy stuck in the unplowed alley, right behind our driveway. As long as they weren't going anywhere, neither were we.

So I shoveled with them. I got our kitty litter and lined the place where they had dug themselves in. I pushed the car, and I shovelled some more. Adrian came out and relieved me.

After about half an hour we finally got them out of the alley and stuck in the street instead, but by that time we were so exhausted and sweaty we just rang off from Andy and Yvonne anyways.

Still, though I can't speak for Adrian, I feel good about what we did this morning. The neighbors were very grateful, offered to buy us more kitty litter (we declined, citing the holiday). I called Adrian a good Samaritan. We're in the house, sweaty and hurting and tired, and frankly just wanting to go back to bed... but we did a good thing and spread some holiday spirit.

What will you do today to help someone? Will you shovel your grandma's walk? Change a tire so that someone stranded on the holiday doesn't need to wait for a surly tow truck driver? Bring cookies to someone who is housebound and alone? Volunteer at a soup kitchen? Just have a warm smile for every stranger you meet?

Here, have some holiday cheer. Yes, you. And some for you over there too. Look, I have enough for everyone, regardless of what holiday you are celebrating this December-- and even those of you not celebrating at all. A present from me to you, of good will and love and respect for the indomitable human spirit.

Now go, pass it on to as many people as you can before it runs out. (Psst-- you can never run out if you keep passing it.) There you go-- your present to yourself, and to everyone else. And don't forget to remind them to pass it on too!

As RaceFail 09 continues, it has become clear that there are those who are hellbent on marginalizing and silencing people of color. In the past few months, minorities have been denigrated by bigoted authors and publishers who have also asserted that Fen of Color are rare and pratically non-existent. Despite numerous discussions and attempts to enlighten on the fact that POCs are fans, writers, artists and just as integral to this genre as our white counterparts, we are continuously dismissed.

On Monday May 18, 2009, we are asking anyone who identifies as a POC/non-white to post this banner, their speculative short stories, artwork, poetry or simply write a post on their favorite fandom on their blogs as an act of protest to show we will not be silent or invisible. The day of protest is entitled Fen Of Color United or more aptly, FOC_U.

White allies can also show solidarity for this event by posting this banner and expressing the need for diversity and speaking out against the bigotry in the genre, through posts and/or their creative work as well.

In addition, a new community entitled foc_u has been created. It's designed to be a safespace for POCs/non-whites and white allies to discuss the issues pertaining to RaceFail and a place to counteract its destructive effects. And it's also a fun place for everyone to also discuss their favorite fandoms. While memberships and posts are under moderation for the time being (until the community gets more established and input is welcomed), everyone is encouraged to join and make this a home.

You can help out by spreading the word and reposting this banner on your personal blog or creating one of your own if you'd like.

The gauntlet's been thrown and I for one think it's past time for us to take a stand and let our voices be heard, whether some people want to hear them or not.
